SCIENTIFIC: Aventurine is composed of Silicon Dioxide (Silica) Quartz and may contain inclusions of Pyrite, Hematite, and Mica. Aventurine’s crystalline structure is hexagonal with prismatic crystals striated crosswise. Aventurine’s hardness is rated at 7 on the Mohs scale of mineral hardness. Aventurine is translucent with a vitreous luster. Aventurine comes in a variety of different colors – green (fuchsite mica), reddish-brown (hematite), brown (pyrite), blue (copper), grey, and peach. Aventurine is found in Brazil, India, Siberia, Austria, and Tanzania.
